Colorado Springs, CO (August 1, 2024) – A pedestrian died early Thursday morning, August 1, after a car struck them in a construction zone at Academy Blvd and Pikes Peak Ave. The incident occurred at 4:17 a.m. as the pedestrian crossed the street and collided with a neighborhood watchdog vehicle. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, died at the scene.
The driver, who was on duty, did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and speeding was not a factor. Police noted the visibility may have been poor due to the early morning hour. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
