Tacoma, WA (August 12, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, August 10, a 16-year-old driver hit two motorcyclists on I-705 at Schuster Pkwy, causing significant injuries. The motorcyclists, aged 23 and 44, both from Olympia, were transported to Tacoma General Hospital. They were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
The teenage driver, unharmed, was arrested and booked into Remann Hall for suspected DUI and vehicular assault. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. when the teen drove south in the northbound lanes of I-705, striking the motorcyclists head-on.
The crash blocked the roadway for over three hours. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident and expect to provide further updates.
