Payne Springs, TX – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash near SH 198 & Cedar Creek Lake

Payne Springs, TX (August 20, 2024) – A collision involving four vehicles on State Hwy 198 near Cedar Creek Lake resulted in the deaths of two motorcyclists Sunday night. John Berkley, 52, and Levi Lott, 32, were killed when a pickup truck driven by William Coker, 45, crossed into the wrong lane, striking their motorcycles.

Berkley died at the scene, and Lott was thrown off the bridge into the lake. Coker and his passenger were hospitalized, while another motorcyclist, Cody Jordan, 25, escaped with minor injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
