Greene Co., IN – Motorcyclist Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on S CR 800 W

Greene Co., IN (August 26, 2024) – A 24-year-old motorcyclist, Maverick Johnson of Lyons, Indiana, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash late Saturday night. The incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on S CR 800 W, north of CR 300 S, in Greene County.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened when the driver of a Dodge Ram attempted to turn left onto S CR 800 W from an access road. The driver, whose view was obstructed by tall vegetation, did not see Johnson’s motorcycle approaching at a high speed. In an effort to avoid the collision, the driver tried to back up, but the motorcycle collided with the truck. Johnson was ejected from his motorcycle and died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram was not injured.

Authorities, including the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police, are investigating the crash to determine the exact cause. More information is expected as the investigation continues.
