Greensboro, NC – Passenger Injured in Plane Accident on I-840

Greensboro, NC (August 29, 2024) – A small plane landed on Interstate 840 on Wednesday evening after experiencing engine trouble. The Greensboro Police Department reported the incident occurred around 8:51 p.m. near Battleground Avenue. The plane, a 1949 Beechcraft Bonanza, was en route to Piedmont Triad International Airport when it had to land on I-840 West.

The pilot managed to steer the plane to the highway’s right shoulder. However, a vehicle traveling west on I-840 swerved, running off the road and striking the plane’s passenger, who was standing on the shoulder. The passenger sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital before being released. Further details will be provided as the investigation into the incident continues.
