Augusta, GA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on I-520 at MM 16

Augusta, GA (September 5, 2024) – A pedestrian was struck and killed on I-520 (Bobby Jones Expy) near mile marker 16. The victim was hit by one or possibly two vehicles, which fled the scene. EMS transported the individual to Wellstar/MCG ER, where they were pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, and investigations into the hit-and-run are ongoing as officials search for the responsible drivers.
