Maywood, NJ – Fatal Motorcycle Crash at RTE 17 & Essex St Ramp

Maywood, NJ (September 10, 2024) – A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed this Tuesday morning, September 10, after a collision on Route 17. The crash happened at the Essex Street exit ramp on the southbound side shortly before 10:30 a.m. Maywood police administered CPR to the unresponsive motorcyclist, who had been thrown onto the grass median after his motorcycle and a car collided.

The motorcycle skidded about 40 feet from the point of impact, according to witnesses. Emergency responders transported the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Authorities are actively seeking witnesses to the crash. 

The car’s driver remained at the scene, cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
