Hixson, TN (September 12, 2024) – A house fire in the 2400 block of Sunset Strip St left one person injured Thursday morning. Firefighters from the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) arrived at 11:46 a.m. to find the home filled with smoke. The fire, which started in a bedroom dresser, was quickly extinguished.
The injured individual suffered burns to the face and smoke inhalation. Investigators determined the fire was caused by smoking while using oxygen, which ignited the tank and the dresser. CFD warns against smoking near-home oxygen. The investigation remains ongoing.
