Riley County, KS – Motorcycle and Pedestrian Accident on U.S. 24

Riley County, KS (September 29, 2024) – A tragic accident involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian occurred late Friday night, resulting in one fatality. The incident took place just before 10 p.m. in the 2300 block of U.S. 24, situated between Kimball Avenue and Northfield Drive.

According to the Riley County Police Department, a Honda CX 500 Custom motorcycle, operated by 19-year-old Kameron Banks of Manhattan, was traveling westbound when it collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as 49-year-old Travell Toliver, was crossing the highway at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, Toliver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders from Riley County EMS transported Banks to Ascension Via Christi for treatment. He was later transferred to Stormont Vail in Topeka by Life Star. Fortunately, he is expected to survive his injuries.

The roadway was closed for several hours to facilitate an investigation, with assistance from the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) in diverting traffic.
