Jefferson City, MO – Motorcycle Accident with Injuries on Westbound US 50, 0.5 Mile West of Route D

Jefferson City, MO (September 28, 2024) – A serious motorcycle accident occurred on the evening of September 27, 2024, at approximately 8:15 PM on Westbound US 50, half a mile west of Route D. The incident prompted a swift response from local emergency services.

According to the crash report, a 1998 Honda Goldwing motorcycle, driven by 60-year-old David B. Rapier from Jefferson City, suffered a blown rear tire, leading to a loss of control. The motorcycle overturned, resulting in both the driver and a passenger being ejected from the vehicle. The motorcycle was deemed a total loss and was subsequently towed from the scene by Toebben’s Towing.

Both individuals involved in the accident sustained serious injuries. David Rapier was transported by MU Air to University Hospital for urgent medical care. His passenger, 45-year-old Jill D. Pittman, also from Jefferson City, was taken to the same hospital by Cole County EMS. Unfortunately, neither individual was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
