Roseland, IL – Fatal Townhouse Fire on South King Drive

Roseland, IL (October 1, 2024) – A tragic fire occurred Sunday afternoon in a townhouse on the Far South Side of Chicago, resulting in the death of a 66-year-old woman. Fire officials responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the 9300 block of South King Drive, where they found a fire in a two-story townhouse.

The victim, identified as Evelyn Wilson, was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in “grave” condition. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:13 p.m., according to fire officials and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

As of now, the cause of the fire has not been determined, and an autopsy is scheduled to provide further insights into the incident.
