Elwood, NY – Motorcycle Accident at Jericho Turnpike

Elwood, NY (October 12, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on October 11 involving a motorcyclist and a car on Jericho Turnpike. According to Suffolk police, the incident took place around 3:40 p.m. at the location near 1500 East Jericho Turnpike.

Alexis Ascencio Luna, a 21-year-old resident of Huntington, was riding a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound when he collided with a 2014 Toyota Corolla. The Corolla was traveling westbound and was making a left turn into a driveway when the crash occurred.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene but unfortunately pronounced Ascencio Luna dead. The driver of the Toyota, a 34-year-old man from Central Islip, was transported to Huntington Hospital for evaluation and was later released.

Both vehicles involved in the accident have been impounded for safety checks as the investigation continues.
