Palm Harbor, FL (October 18, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Thursday evening, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man. The incident took place at approximately 7:40 p.m. when an 85-year-old man from Palm Harbor was driving a van southbound on U.S. Highway 19.

As the van driver attempted to turn left at the intersection of Highland Boulevard, he turned directly into the path of the motorcyclist. This unfortunate maneuver led to a collision between the motorcycle and the van, causing significant injuries to the young rider.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The driver of the van sustained injuries as well but is expected to recover, with authorities describing his condition as “non-life-threatening.”

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and has indicated that the investigation may take some time. Depending on the findings, charges could be forthcoming.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young man who lost his life in this devastating accident.
