Las Vegas, NV (October 21, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred in the east Las Vegas valley late Saturday night, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. Just after midnight on Sunday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle striking a person on east Charleston Boulevard, near the intersection with 10th Street.

According to police, evidence and witness statements indicated that a Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on Charleston Boulevard when it struck an individual who was walking outside of a crosswalk. The collision occurred when the front right of the Toyota made contact with the right side of the pedestrian.

Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene promptly; however, despite all life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead on site. The victim has been identified as a 51-year-old resident of Las Vegas.

The police report revealed that the driver, identified as 23-year-old Nicholas Pinal, exhibited signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested on DUI-related charges. This incident marks the 126th traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for 2024.
