Colby, KS – Fatal Crash on County Road U

Colby, KS (October 21, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred northeast of Colby on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of one teenager and serious injuries to another. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the crash took place in the 2700 block of County Road U, approximately 12 miles northeast of Colby, at around 8:45 a.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2003 Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on County Road U when the driver made an unstable movement and attempted to overcorrect. The truck entered the south ditch and continued into a cornfield, overturning multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels facing northwest.

The driver of the truck, 16-year-old Jadin Hall from Colby, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, also a 16-year-old from Colby, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The crash log indicated that neither the driver nor the passenger was properly restrained at the time of the accident.
