Covington, WA – Fatal DUI Crash on SR 18 Near State Route 169

Covington, WA (October 22, 2024) – A tragic vehicle collision occurred on Monday, October 21, 2024, around 3:15 PM on State Route 18 near State Route 169. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following the accident, which resulted in significant injuries and a fatality.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the crash involved two vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that a 19-year-old male driver crossed over from the westbound lanes of SR 18 and collided with an eastbound vehicle. Tragically, a 21-month-old baby, who was a passenger in the eastbound vehicle, lost their life as a result of the collision. Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals via Life Flight helicopter for urgent medical care.
