
Auburn, AL (August 13, 2024) – An overnight fire on Sunday, August 11, tragically claimed the life of a 61-year-old man and left a 60-year-old woman in serious condition. The Auburn Fire Department responded to the blaze at 10:40 p.m. on the 700 block of Stubb Ave, following reports of people trapped inside.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames emanating from the home. Using a ladder, they accessed the house through a bedroom window, where they found both victims unconscious. Crews promptly rescued the individuals and administered life-saving measures.
The man was pronounced dead at East Alabama Medical Center, while the woman remains in serious but stable condition at Piedmont Hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and expect to provide further updates as the inquiry continues.
