Auburn, ME (September 16, 2024) – A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while riding his scooter on Saturday evening. The incident occurred shortly before 6 PM on Laurel Avenue, as reported by Auburn Deputy Police Chief Tim Cougle.

According to the initial investigation, the boy was riding his scooter on Laurel Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Newbury Street. At that moment, he was hit by a white Dodge Avenger traveling at a low speed. Fortunately, the boy was conscious and alert when first responders arrived at the scene. He was subsequently transported by Auburn Rescue to Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) for further evaluation.

As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the crash, which remains under investigation by local authorities.
