Augusta, GA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run on I-520

Augusta, GA (September 3, 2024) – A pedestrian died early Tuesday morning following a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 520. The incident occurred at mile marker 16, near the Laney Walker Blvd exit.

The victim was hit by one or possibly two vehicles, which fled the scene. Emergency crews transported the victim to Wellstar MCG hospital, where they were pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as a felony hit-and-run. An autopsy is scheduled, and the investigation into the crash continues.
