Baytown, TX (August 11, 2024) – A tragic house fire on Friday afternoon, August 9, at 110 Independence Pkwy N resulted in the death of a man, as confirmed by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Responding to the blaze, deputies and the Highland Fire Department found the man trapped inside.
Despite efforts to rescue him, he was unresponsive when firefighters pulled him out and was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The incident has led to the closure of all southbound lanes on Independence Parkway.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and expect to provide further details as they emerge.
