Clive, IA – One Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-80 at Mile Marker 57

Clive, IA (August 18, 2024) – Anthony Haynes Sr., 60, of Omaha, sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on Thursday, August 15  afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the 57 mile marker on I-80.

Four eastbound vehicles were involved when a pilot car for an oversize load entered the lanes. Carly Boss, 23, of Clive, was slowing to pull over on the left shoulder when Haynes Sr., driving a 2014 Honda CTX130, collided with Boss’ BMW X1. The impact caused a chain reaction, with Jacob Swoboda, 30, of Gretna, hitting Haynes Sr.’s vehicle, followed by William Smith, 53, of Verona, N.Y., striking Swoboda’s truck. Haynes Sr. was airlifted to UNMC-Omaha for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
