Dothan, AL – Burn Injury from Vehicle Fire on N Oates Rd

Dothan, AL (August 12, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to a vehicle fire in the 300 block of N Oates Rd on Monday, August 12. Upon arrival, Dothan Fire Engine Company 1 found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Additional units, including Dothan Fire Engine Company 10, were dispatched to manage the fire using foam.

A man, observed running from the burning vehicle, appeared severely injured. Initial reports suggest he accidentally caused the fire by lighting a cigarette near several gallons of gasoline stored inside the car.

After receiving first aid in Dothan, the man was transported to a specialized burn center for further treatment. Authorities are investigating the details of the incident and expect to provide more information as it becomes available.
