Gila River, AZ – Fatal Crash on SR-587 Near Riggs Rd

Gila River, AZ (August 28, 2024) – A deadly collision took place Wednesday, August 28, on State Route 587, just south of Riggs Rd in the Gila River Indian Community. The Arizona Department of Transportation reported that one person lost their life in the two-vehicle accident.

The victim’s identity has not been released at this time. Both directions of SR-587 are currently closed as officials work at the scene and investigate the cause of the crash. There is no estimated time for reopening the roadway.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
