Hilo, HI – Boy Injured After Car Crashes Into Home on Kaumana

Hilo, HI (September 7, 2024) – A 7-year-old boy was injured after a 71-year-old man crashed his car into a home on Kaumana Dr Thursday evening. Hawaii County police responded to the scene around 6 PM after the man, who was visiting an acquaintance, accidentally drove into the residence while leaving.

The vehicle struck the child, who was inside the living room. Medics transported the boy to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was diagnosed with substantial injuries and is now in stable condition. The driver was unharmed. The investigation remains ongoing.
