Honolulu, HI (August 7, 2024) – A female pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck early Monday morning. The incident occurred on August 5 around 6 AM on Ainaloa Blvd in Pahoa. The woman was crossing the road when she was hit by a Hyundai truck. Paramedics arrived to find her unresponsive and rushed her to Hilo’s Benioff Medical Center.
The truck’s driver, a 36-year-old Pahoa resident, was unharmed. According to police, neither speed nor impairment appears to have been a factor in the accident.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
