Jasper, MO – Injury in Three-Vehicle Accident on WB I-44 at MM 18

Jasper, MO (August 13, 2024) – A three-vehicle accident occurred on Monday, August 12, at 11:50 a.m. on westbound I-44 near the 18-mile marker in Fidelity, resulting in moderate injuries to one driver. The incident happened as a 2018 Porsche Macan, driven by Ernest Peterson, 56, of Olathe, KS, attempted to merge onto I-44 and entered the path of a 2018 Toyota RAV4, driven by Ciin Niang, 57, of Baltimore, MD.

The RAV4 struck the Porsche and then collided with a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Ricardo Moreno, 29, of Miami Gardens, FL. Niang sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy in Joplin by ambulance.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
