Kahuku, HI – House Fire on Lanihuli St

Kahuku, HI (October 2, 2024) – A significant two-alarm house fire occurred in Kahuku on Sunday, displacing 13 college students who were residing in the home. The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received the emergency call around 4:30 p.m. regarding the incident at a single-story residence on Lanihuli Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke emanating from three sides of the house. Quick action was taken as crews worked to extinguish the fire, which was located in one of the bedrooms. Unfortunately, one man suffered moderate burns to his hands and feet and was subsequently transferred to EMS care for treatment. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced students as they navigate the aftermath of this unfortunate event. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the fire and to assess the extent of the damage.
