Kearney, NE (August 01, 2024) – A 48-year-old Kearney man died after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Thursday, morning, August 01. The accident occurred at 5:20 a.m. on E 56th St, about a mile outside Kearney city limits.
A 39-year-old Kearney man, driving eastbound, collided with the rear of the bicycle, also traveling eastbound. Authorities have not released the names of either man involved.
Sgt. Dave Gibbs of the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office stated that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the incident, and no citations have been issued. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
