Leavenworth County, KS – Injury Accident at 155th St and State Ave

Leavenworth County, KS (October 3, 2024) – A serious accident occurred on Tuesday morning involving an elderly couple and a teenager who ran a red light. The incident took place just after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of 155th St and State Avenue in Basehor, Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on 155th St in a 2012 Ford Fusion when they failed to stop at the red light. As a result, the Ford Fusion collided with a 2016 Ford Escape that was southbound at the traffic light on State Avenue, striking the vehicle on the passenger side.

Both occupants of the Ford Escape, a 69-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man, were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The teenage driver of the Ford Fusion, from Tonganoxie, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
