Litchfield, CT – Fatal Collision on Rte 254 and Main St

Litchfield, CT (August 7, 2024) – An 82-year-old man died following a crash on Tuesday, August 6. The accident occurred at the intersection of Rte 254 and Main St in Northfield around 10:50 a.m., according to Connecticut State Police. A 62-year-old Thomaston woman driving a 2008 Toyota RAV4 attempted to cross the intersection, leading to a collision with a southbound 2015 Honda Civic. The impact sent the Honda into the northbound lane, causing a head-on collision with a 2024 Volkswagen Taos.

The Honda driver, David Foster Kaufman, was taken to Waterbury Hospital, where he later died. The Volkswagen driver, a 43-year-old Southington woman, suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized. The Toyota driver was uninjured.
