
Maricopa County, AZ (August 13, 2024) – A child died following a rollover accident Tuesday morning, August 13, on Interstate 10, south of Chandler. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when a blue Ford Explorer experienced tire failure while traveling eastbound near milepost 166. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to enter the dirt median before re-entering the highway and rolling over. A Ford pickup truck then struck the Explorer.
The juvenile male passenger in the front seat died at the scene. The driver of the Explorer sustained moderate injuries and was hospitalized. The four occupants of the pickup truck were unharmed.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
