Mt. Vernon, IL – Injuries Reported in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-57

Mt. Vernon, IL (August 5, 2024) – Six people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks on Sunday, August 4. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. along northbound I-57 at mile marker 104, where one truck overturned and a vehicle caught fire. Responders found two semi-trucks, an SUV, and a pickup truck pulling a boat involved. The semi-trailer, pickup, boat, and second semi’s tractor were all ablaze.

Emergency personnel transported the injured to hospitals by ambulance and air. Authorities are investigating the crash and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
