New Berlin, WI (October 18, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, October 17, when a 69-year-old man riding a bicycle was struck by a car near the intersection of Calhoun Road and Fullerton Avenue at approximately 1:40 p.m. Emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly after the incident was reported.

According to police, the paramedics treated the cyclist on-site before transporting him to Froedtert Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the man unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later that evening.

Authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash, but they are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. A 48-year-old man from West Allis was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision.
