New Haven, CT – Fatal Two-Car Collision at Dixwell Ave and Bassett St

New Haven, CT (August 7, 2024) – A deadly two-car crash in New Haven on Monday night, August 5, is under investigation. Officers responded at 9:46 p.m. to Dixwell Ave and Bassett St after a report of a crash.

A Toyota Sienna, heading south on Dixwell Ave, attempted to turn left onto Bassett St. A Nissan Versa traveling north on Dixwell Ave collided with the Toyota. The Nissan driver was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital and was pronounced dead. Their identity remains undisclosed.

The driver and passenger in the Toyota were taken to local hospitals. The New Haven Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating. Further details will be provided as the inquiry into the cause of the incident progresses.
