Oakland Park, FL (August 2, 2024) – A Brightline train struck and killed a pedestrian on Wednesday, July 31, near Fort Lauderdale. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name, age, or gender.
The fatal accident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on the 2900 block of N Dixie Hwy. The collision started in Wilton Manors, with the train coming to a stop in Oakland Park, five miles north of downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Since 2018, more than 30 crashes involving Brightline trains have occurred in Palm Beach County. Authorities continue to investigate this incident and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
