Orange County, FL – Fatal Scooter and Motorcycle Accident on Orange Blossom Trl Near La Quinta Dr

Orange County, FL (September 5, 2024) – A 45-year-old Orlando man died after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing Orange Blossom Trl on an electric scooter early Thursday, September 5. The crash happened at 1:47 a.m. near La Quinta Dr, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Orlando man was crossing eastbound, outside a marked crosswalk, when a southbound motorcycle, driven by a 42-year-old Ocala man, hit him. The impact threw the motorcyclist off the bike. The Ocala man, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized.

Authorities pronounced the scooter rider dead at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
