Phoenix, AZ (August 18, 2024) – Two pedestrians lost their lives in separate incidents on Friday, August 16. At 9:30 p.m., police responded to a crash at 67th Ave and Indian School Rd, where 47-year-old Latisha Sterling was struck by a vehicle while crossing outside a crosswalk. She was transported to the hospital but later died. The driver remained at the scene, and impairment is not suspected.
Hours later, at 1:45 a.m., 46-year-old David Pinkerton was found with severe injuries near 40th St and Oak St. He was hospitalized but did not survive. The driver fled the scene.
Authorities are investigating both accidents and are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
