Rome, IL – Fatal Motorcycle Crash at Knox St and IL-29

Rome, IL (August 12, 2024) – A tragic collision claimed the lives of Floyd L. Henderson, 58, and Leah R. Henderson, 51, from Chillicothe, following a motorcycle and pickup truck crash on Saturday night near Knox Street and Illinois Route 29. According to Illinois State Police, the motorcycle failed to yield at a stop sign, entering the path of a 2004 GMC Sierra.

The Hendersons were ejected from the motorcycle; Floyd was pronounced dead at the scene, while Leah succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. No injuries were reported for the truck driver. The road was closed until early Sunday. The cause of the crash is under investigation, with further updates expected from authorities.
