Tuscaloosa, AL (August 10, 2024) – A tragic collision on I-59 resulted in the death of Daryl W. Brown Sr., 63, and injuries to two others. The incident occurred about a mile south of Fosters early Thursday morning, August 8. Brown was driving a Hyundai Accent when his vehicle was hit by a Mazda 6S, causing it to disable and the Mazda to overturn.
A Freightliner tractor-trailer subsequently struck Brown’s car around 6 a.m., ejecting him despite wearing a seatbelt. The collision led to the Freightliner catching fire. Both the tractor-trailer and Mazda drivers sustained injuries and were hospitalized at DCH Regional Medical Center.
