Wilmington, DE (September 12, 2024) – A house fire early Thursday morning injured two individuals in the 1800 block of W 4th St. Wilmington firefighters arrived around 5:45 a.m. to find the kitchen fire had been extinguished, though smoke filled the residence. A 49-year-old man suffered a burn on his leg, and a 16-year-old girl experienced minor smoke inhalation. Firefighters ventilated the home and confirmed the fire was fully out within five minutes.
The man was taken to Christiana Hospital, and the girl was treated at Saint Francis Hospital. The Wilmington Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the fire. Further details will be provided as the inquiry into the incident progresses.
