Yaphank, NY (October 22, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of Nassau Supreme Court Justice Dawn Jimenez-Salta. The incident took place just after 5:30 p.m. on the Long Island Expressway, where the motorcycle she was riding on collided with a car near Exit 68.

Reports indicate that Justice Jimenez-Salta, 60, was riding as a passenger on a 2007 Harley-Davidson operated by 65-year-old Frederick Fischer of Bay Shore. The motorcycle collided with a Lexus, causing the car to lurch forward into an Audi. Justice Jimenez-Salta was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue but unfortunately did not survive her injuries. Fischer sustained serious injuries and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.
