Yukon, TX – 2 Killed, 1 Injured in Private Jet Crash at Schlemeyer Field

Yukon, TX (August 21, 2024) – A private jet crash near Schlemeyer Field on Tuesday morning claimed the lives of two people and injured another. The Cessna 550 Citation II, bound for Ellington Airport in Houston, crashed shortly after takeoff.

The jet exploded on impact, damaging nearby buildings, including trailer homes and Dewey’s Breakfast Shop. Joseph Vincent Summa, 48, and Joleen Cavaretta Weatherly, 49, both died at the scene. A woman inside one of the trailers sustained injuries. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the crash. Further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
